Drivers delayed as autumnal frost bites

Gritting query as some key routes icy

Icy roads meant a delayed journey into work for many Islanders this morning (24 Nov).  

Motorists have taken to social media to describe rush-hour delays as traffic crawled along slippery roads - some asking why gritters hadn't been deployed.

The Mountain Road, the southern route from Colby and stretches of the TT course through Cronk y Voddy were among the worst affected.

Earlier this week Infrastructure, public transport and education chiefs outlined plans to deal with severe weather this winter.

The DoI's maintenance manager Alan Hardinge said the use of resources is carefully planned:
