Driver sentenced for three offences

Claimed he was distracted by a puppy

A careless driver who ignored police warnings before crashing has narrowly avoided losing his licence.

Jake Stephen Ford, of Lezayre Road in Ramsey, appeared at Douglas Courthouse this morning (Tuesday) to face three motoring-related charges.

The court heard he'd been stopped by police for not displaying 'R' plates in April - but was spotted again without them just a week later.

Then in June, the 27 year-old was driving in Ramsey when he rolled over a stop sign, colliding with another vehicle.

Ford claimed he'd been momentarily distracted by a puppy.

Pleading guilty to all counts, he was fined £650, and had his licence endorsed with 10 penalty points.
