Drink drive message finally getting through

Better communication from the police could be one reason for a big drop in the number of people charged with drink driving on the Island over Christmas.

Media Officer Inspector Derek Flint says a simple campaign and effective use of social media would seem to have worked well.

Out of 12 arrests, three were charged, five were found to be under the limit and four have been bailed pending further inquiries.

It compares with 16 people being charged the year before.

Inspector Flint is hopeful that, at last, the message is getting through.
