Bulldog cross breed injured passing terrier after jumping gate
An Onchan resident has been ordered to keep his canine under control after it attacked a neighbour’s dog.
Stewart Gray, of The Park, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where he admitted breaching the Dogs Act.
The 49-year-old’s bulldog cross breed ‘Kendrick’ escaped from his garden in July last year and proceeded to grip a two-year-old passing Lakeland Terrier called ‘Sam’ by the neck.
A witness called police after hearing ‘squealing’ and a commotion which she said sounded like ‘a dog getting ripped apart’.
The court heard Sam’s owner fell into the road in an effort to separate the two dogs; subsequent veterinary treatment cost him almost £250.
In interview Gray told police it was the terrier who had ‘aggression issues’ describing the incident as a ‘silly little scuffle’.
Imposing a control order Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood also ordered Gray to pay compensation for the veterinary treatment and £50 in prosecution costs.
