DHSC: Medical Director's evidence 'inaccurate'

Follows her concerns over handling of pandemic

Government has defended allegations it mishandled the Covid-19 pandemic after it came under fire from the Island's medical director.

Dr Rosalind Ranson has given evidence to a Tynwald committee saying a decision to follow Public Health England guidance was 'flawed'.

She's criticised senior figures in the department including the director of public health who she says was 'consistently difficult to question'.

In response the DHSC says it's concerned that the information she's presented is 'inaccurate, has no evidence base, is unfounded and/or unprofessional'.

It adds all officers had a 'responsibility to advise' and not to decide the policy response to the pandemic.
