Strikes in England could affect Manx patients

A strike by junior doctors in England won't impact health care in the Island, but could affect patients heading across for treatment.

The imposition of new contracts for junior doctors last month has triggered strike action by the medics, in five-day blocks starting on Monday next week.

The health department here says there could be disruption to appointments for patients sent to England - but if so, they'll be informed by the hospitals concerned.  

Dr Malcolm Couch is CEO at the Department of Health and Social Care.

He says current contracts are being retained with junior medics at Noble's hospital - and in the Island, it's business as usual:
