The Island's highways boss Richard Pearson is to leave his job as cutbacks across government reach senior officer level.
The man who has guided the huge Peel Road upgrade project and overseen the start of work on Douglas Promenade, has told colleagues he will step down from the high-profile job at the end of March.
Mr Pearson who has been in post for four years, is thought to have been influenced in his decision by the government's re structuring, which has led to a reduction in the number of director positions.
It's understood Mr Pearson is dismayed by the effect the changes will have on his department which has made his position 'less tenable'.
He has chosen to seek voluntary redundancy and 'reluctantly' decided to leave the Isle of Man.
Mr Pearson lists 50 sets of regulations and 4000 orders taken through the parliamentary process during his time along with delivery of 40 highway capital projects.
He has complemented an excellent staff group, who he describes as 'universally friendly and supportive'.
