Crossroads aim to 'put carers on the map' this Carers Week

Carers Week takes place from Monday 10 - Sunday 16 June

This week is Carers Week, an annual campaign aimed at highlighting the challenges carers face.

This year's theme is 'putting carers on the map', which aims to make caring more visible, ensuring that people feel seen and respected and that they can access the services and support that they need.

Manx charity Crossroads is hosting a number of events to mark the week for the around 10,000 carers based here.

The figure of 10,000 was determined via a piece of work done by Crossroads back in 2022, however that number is believed to now be higher.

Their next survey will be undertaken later this year.

Speaking with Siobhán Fletcher, Crossroads' Chief Executive Jackie Bettridge said more needs to be done to support that 'invisible army' who, she says, are 'the backbone of our health and social care system':

To mark Carers Week, the charity is hosting a number of events - including drop-in sessions - at their Tynwald Street store, as Jackie explains:

Throughout the week, they will also be sharing some stories from carers, information and statistics about caring.
