Covid-19 death information no longer ‘part of any reporting’

Public Health looking at creating winter surveillance report

Data about Covid-19 related deaths on the Isle of Man is no longer 'part of any reporting'.

That’s according to Public Health which hasn't updated its figures for more than two months.

Manx Radio asked government to provide information from 19 August – the date of the last Coronavirus surveillance report.

At the time of the last report there had been 116 deaths on Island – where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate – since the start of the pandemic.

Public Health says it’s now developing a winter surveillance report and will release more information in due course.

A spokesperson said: 'The winter report will monitor the current rates of infection for respiratory illnesses including COVID-19, using GP in and out of hours symptoms surveillance, seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccine statistics and global surveillance.

'As mortality data can be interpreted in different ways we are currently looking at how to publish this to best reflect the current situation on Island and in line with best practice in other jurisdictions, once determined these figures will then be added to the winter report.'
