Council's tribunal response 'unacceptable' says Watson

Douglas Council didn't 'accept' tribunal decision

Douglas Council's attempt to defend itself after losing a tribunal has been described as 'completely unacceptable' by one of its own members.

It was ordered to pay a gully worker of 36 years compensation after unlawfully docking his pay while he was stuck in Cyprus due to Covid-19.

In defence, the council said it doesn't agree with the decision, or accept criticism of its officers, who were 'working under difficult circumstances'.

Derby Ward representative and Manx Labour member Devon Watson says not all councillors agree with that statement.
