Concern as pet owners feel the pinch of cost-of-living crisis

ManxSPCA and Animals in Distress say problems are increasing

Pet owners are being urged to ask for help as cost-of-living pressures increase.

The ManxSPCA has told Manx Radio it’s ‘quite worried’ that more animals will need assistance, or be given up, due to financial hardship.

The charity has also revealed its preparing to take in more horses.

Meanwhile, a group which aims to help animals, and their owners, on the Isle of Man is warning that ‘the worst is yet to come’ for some people battling cost-of-living pressures.

Animals in Distress helps people who are in financial difficulty look after their pets.

It’s told Manx Radio it knows of three animals which have been given up due to rising bills.

Founder Anita Williams says recently the charity has helped 18 families to feed their pets – including cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits:
