Community meetings begin today

New innovation for government and third sector

The first of four public meetings over the next two days in the south of the island will be held this morning (Tuesday).

It’s hoped a community partnership can be established, initially in Malew, Santon and Rushen, to help people live as independently as possible, while ensuring advice, information, opportunities and activities are available to them.

Residents are invited to find out more and express their views to the Southern Communities Initiative project team.

One of the directors, David Gawne, says it would be a new innovation for the government and the third sector.

The meetings today (Tuesday) are at Castletown Civic Centre from 10am-midday and St Catherine’s Hall in Port Erin from 6pm until 8pm.
