Clampdown on parking violations at Noble's Hospital

Department of Infrastructure officers issuing tickets

Manx Care says some people have been frequently leaving their cars in areas they shouldn't in Noble's Hospital's car park, causing hazards and safety issues.

It's as officers from the Department of Infrastructure have been policing the area, and issuing parking violation fixed penalty tickets.

The health body says: 'Officers from the Department of Infrastructure are undertaking their responsibility under the Braddan Off-Street Parking Order 2019, which includes some designated parking areas on the Noble’s Hospital site. All disabled parking areas at the Noble’s site are designated in the Order.'

This includes the disabled parking area in the main car park, which has some areas delineated as “no parking”.

The DOI officers may also issue tickets for out of date tax discs and other contraventions in these areas, it says.

'Many areas across the Noble’s site were not originally formally adopted, and so the parking restrictions are not currently enforceable in these areas. However, there are plans for the whole of the Noble’s site to be adopted as a public highway, so that any infringements of double yellow line parking can be enforced by the DOI.

'This would help to address safety issues caused by vehicles parking on double yellow lines/on pavements, for example in the horseshoe at the front of Noble’s, which currently stops vital hospital vehicles from dropping off and picking up patients.'
