'Open-minds' on PO corporatisation

Though supported in principle - idea rejected by Tynwald

The chairman of the Isle of Man Post Office says she is keeping an 'open mind' about corporatisation - but admits the current structure works well.

Plans were rejected by Tynwald 13 months ago, with members stressing the Island wouldn't benefit from running the post office as a state-owned company, rather than a statutory board.

However, the court did support the principle of corporatisation.

Julie Edge today (Tuesday) acknowledged the dynamic of Manx politics had changed in recent years.

Former vice-chairman, Juan Turner, said corporatising it wouldn't help the body achieve more than it currently does - a sentiment agreed by North Douglas MHK, David Ashford.
