Castletown hosts election public forum

Voters to tackle candidates on local issues

Voters in Castletown will have an opportunity to question local election hopefuls at a public meeting on Monday night.

Nine candidates are standing for seven seats on the Board of Commissioners.

They will each be asked to set out their vision for the future of the town, before taking questions from the floor.

Voters will be invited to raise any topic relating to 'the running of Castletown'.

The requisition meeting at the Civic Hall will start at 7pm and will be chaired by Chris Thomas MHK.

Polls open for the 2016 local authority elections at 8am on Thursday, April 28 in six districts and parishes around the Island.

Votes will be cast in Castletown, Douglas - where two wards are contested, Garff (where Laxey ward is being contested), Patrick, Peel and Port St Mary.
