Castletown Commissioners closing public toilets

A spike in anti-social behaviour has led them to the decision

Castletown Commissioners are closing the public toilets out of hours at the town hall after a spike in anti-social behaviour.

At the weekend a commercial bin was set alight using consumables from the facilities.

The incident is currently being investigated by the police.

The local authority posted the following statement on Facebook: "Over the weekend, a commercial bin was set alight in the vicinity of the town hall using consumables from the public toilets.

"This incident has been reported to, and is being investigated by the Constabulary however as an interim measure the toilets at the town hall will be unavailable out of hours.

"We apologise of the inconvenience that this will cause the wider public.

"The commissioners remain committed to the provision of suitable facilities in the town centre and are currently considering how improvements can best be made."

The toilets on the Quayside / Back Hope Street are still open for the public to use.
