Calls to ban pro-life group

Demonstrations cause controversy

A petition to ban a pro-life group from the Island has gathered around 2,500 signatures.

It's after a visit this week by members of Sussex-based Abort67, who held a series of public meetings and demonstrations.

There's been controversy over their use of images of aborted foetuses on placards.

The petition says such an approach 'is not welcome on the Isle of Man', and 'the Manx people have already made their voices heard' in an ongoing debate about reforming abortion laws.

Abort67 says its aim is to 'educate the public regarding the truth about abortion' - and 'the life of an unborn person is more important than hurt feelings'.
