Calls for Shimmin to resign over Sefton deal

There have been calls for the economic development minister to resign over his handling of the Sefton Group bailout.

It was given £4.5 million of taxpayers' money, after claims it was in serious financial straits.

An economic committee report, being debated in Tynwald, has heavily criticised some of the government's action, questioning whether it acted within the law.

Both South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft, and firstly Michael MHK Alf Cannan, have said Mr Shimmin should remain true to his word, and step down:
