Bus Vannin accused of 'unlawful' conduct

Formal complaint submitted by Unite union

The Unite union has accused Bus Vannin of 'unlawful' conduct, over its negotiations with bus drivers.

It's filed formal complaint forms on behalf of its members today, to the Employment and Equality Tribunal.

The union says Bus Vannin 'wrote directly to the bus drivers' trying to amend the terms of their employment on 8 July.

Those terms had been agreed 'by collective bargaining' around nine months earlier.

Unite has accused Bus Vannin of seeking to 'bypass the negotiations' with the union, 'in an attempt to divide members'.

Bus drivers 'should receive statutory compensation', the union says, as a result of the unlawful offer.
