Bryan Kneale sculpture removed from Manx Museum grounds

Steel structure entitled 'Yn Arreyder' was on display for nearly 40 years

A sculpture by Manx artist Bryan Kneale has been removed from its plinth in the grounds of the Manx Museum.

Yn Arreyder had been on display there for nearly 40 years.

The steel sculpture will now undergo a detailed condition assessment

Manx National Heritage says it will draw up a 'conservation plan' to treat the sculpture before returning it to public display.

It was removed in the early hours of Tuesday morning (25 February) by a team from Mann Crane Hire Limited.

A new sculpture from Mr Kneale could be installed this year in St John's if plans for 'Eelips' are approved.

A planning application has been submitted which would see the artwork erected in the Tynwald National Park and Arboretum close to the fairground wall.
