BMA seeking clarification over revised Manx Care pay offer

Further negotiations will take place early next week

Further talks are set to take place between Manx Care and the British Medical Association next week after the Island's healthcare provider made a revised pay offer to the union's members.

In addition to the six percent uplift for 2023-24 and four percent for the current financial year, Manx Care said it would uplift all doctors who are currently on a lower pay scale than those in England.

The BMA hasn't accepted the offer, has sought improvements and is seeking clarification on the detail of the offer proposed, as different levels of uplift would apply to different grades of doctor.

A statement issued by the Isle of Man Government says both sides agree the Island may need to consider going beyond parity with England pay scales in order to support recruitment.

Manx Care and the BMA have agreed to meet again with support from the Manx Industrial Relations Service early next week to continue negotiations.

Last month BMA members voted in support of industrial action over the pay dispute.
