Five key goals set out

A new, overarching strategy to meet the Island's future health and social care needs has been unveiled. 

Minister Howard Quayle has set out five key goals designed to reduce spiraling costs and provide a streamlined, joined-up service.

More care will be provided in people's homes, to avoid stays in hospital or residential units wherever possible.

There'll be greater use of modern telemedicine procedures and a renewed focus on disease prevention, encouraging residents to choose healthy lifestyles.

If the strategy wins Tynwald approval next week, detailed plans will be drawn-up to put its aims into practice.
