Bird flu surveillance zone due to be lifted

Minister Clare Barber stresses risk of bird flu still high

A surveillance zone, monitoring cases of 'avian influenza' among wild fowl and poultry on the Island, could be lifted on Sunday.

That's according to Minister of Environment Food and Agriculture, Clare Barber.

The surveillance will be lifted at 3pm on Sunday, 'assuming nothing changes,' she said, though stressed the risk of bird flu was still considered high.

She advises people to keep maintaining good bio-hazard security measures, housing their birds, and not feeding wild fowl and poultry to minimise the spread:
