Auction remembering true Manxman

Lifetime of memories to go under the hammer

Rare and valuable memorabilia belonging to a a true Manxman will be auctioned off in Douglas today (Saturday).

Ian Cannell, who passed away last June, was the official Tynwald Day commentator for more than half a century, the first official TT commentator for Manx Radio, where he also had a spell as general manager.

He was a former Peel town clerk and, perhaps most notably of all, a key and respected figure in the Royal British Legion both on and off the Island.

Many of the contents of his home in Peel will be auctioned off at the Chrystals’ saleroom in Allan Street in Douglas.

You can first view the items from Rose Villas from nine o’clock to 10.30am.

Alwyn Collister was a long-time friend and says there is a lifetime of memories.
