Assurances sought over Island's fresh bread supplies

Most loaves imported following closure of Ramsey Bakery

Whether the Isle of Man's supplies of fresh bread are strong enough will be among the topics discussed at this month's sitting of Tynwald.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will ask what plans are in place to ensure security of the supply of bread to Manx customers.

Following the closure of Ramsey Bakery earlier this year, the majority of loaves on supermarket shelves are now imported from the UK.

As well as concerns over sailing cancellations, Mr Moorhouse says this also raises the issue of freshness:
