Green Party candidate successful in Derby Ward

Andrew Bentley has been elected to serve as Councillor for Derby Ward of the Borough of Douglas, until 1 May 2020.

Four candidates contested the election to fill one vaccant seat in the Island's capital today, 9 August.

Andrew John Bentley of the Isle of Man Green Party was elected to the vacant seat for Derby Ward, with 191 of the 442 votes.

Amanda Jane Walker was his nearest challenger, with 139 votes.

Charlton Lee John Krentz had 100 supporters, and Claire Louise Newall had 24.

Six papers were spoilt, all for voting for more candidates than there were vacancies to be filled.

442 votes means there was a turnout of 18.5%, slightly higher than the 16% turnout at the recent Ramsey Town Commissioners elections.
