Andreas man accused of hospitalising girlfriend

She needed major facial surgery to treat injuries

An Andreas man accused of hospitalising his girlfriend has been remanded in custody.

Daniel Woodbridge of Larrivane Meadows appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.

He faces a single charge of causing grievous bodily harm at his girlfriend's home on 4 October, but hasn't yet entered a plea.

Prosecution advocate Barry Swain told the court the pair were together in the early hours of the morning when she said she wanted the relationship to end.

The court heard he's said to have turned violent, punching the woman in her face a number of times.

He's then alleged to have thrown her to the floor before stamping on her head up to five times.

The hearing was told his alleged victim has had to undergo major facial surgery to treat the injuries she sustained.

Mr Woodbridge was remanded in custody and is next due to appear on 1 December.
