Hopes 'screening facilities' will be in place by the end of next year
Manx Utilities is 'looking forward to cracking on' with plans for a new sewage treatment works in Peel.
That's according to Chair of Manx Utilities John Wannenburgh.
He says the authority is hoping for clean bathing water in the west by as early as next year.
Plans for a new sewage treatment works in Peel have been provisionally approved by the Planning Committee.
Assuming no appeals are submitted construction will start in early autumn with flows being treated at the works by the end of 2026.
The treatment works will be built in fields close to the Heritage Trail and adjacent to Peel Power Station.
Mr Wannenburgh says the ambition is to have screening facilities in place by the end of 2025 meaning water quality will improve straight away:
