ACU insists Mercer receiving support during recovery

TT organisers disappointed by reports on court case

The organiser of the Isle of Man TT says it's disappointed at claims it hasn't been providing injured rider Steve Mercer with enough support.

ACU Ltd has issued a statement in response to reports on its legal proceedings with the rider, who is recovering from injuries sustained in 2018.

The statement from the organisers stresses that it's limited in its ability to respond while the court case is ongoing, but insists its robust insurance package provides the best possible support for riders while recovering from injuries.

It adds the ACU has been providing all rehabilitation required as medically advised to assist Mercer's recovery.

The 37-year-old racer suffered numerous injuries, including back, leg and pelvis fractures, when he was struck by a course car in practice week last year.

A further statement may be released by the ACU once the Deemster has made a ruling on the case to decide whether it should be dealt with under Isle of Man law.
