Access to contraceptives 'vital' for young

Allinson has Key's questions on sexual health

An MHK wants to see government take a pragmatic approach in making contraceptives more accessible for young people.

Ramsey member Dr Alex Allinson has two questions on issues of sexual health for Ministers in the House of Keys tomorrow (Tuesday, 30 January).

He wants to know what contraceptives, including condoms, are provided at Island sixth forms and the college, and what records are kept on use of 'morning after pill' by the Department of Health and Social Care.

Dr Allinson says due to problems of confidentiality and embarrassment many young people feel uncomfortable with issues of sexual health.

He's rejected the assertion that providing easier access to contraceptives encourages sex.
