Abortion reform needs 'best legislative framework' says MHK

One of the five MHKs who wanted a committee to scrutinise proposed abortion reforms felt the move would provide politicians with the chance to create the 'best legislative framework'.

Ayre and Michael MHK Tim Baker has received some criticism on social media for seconding a move by East Douglas member Chris Robertshaw, which ultimately did not receive enough support.

Mr Baker says his intentions were to give proper scrutiny of what he describes as 'a fundamentally important bill'.
