Abortion access zones to be debated in Keys

Just five questions for oral answer

Reform of the Island's abortion laws is set to feature again in the House of Keys this morning (24 April).

Members will once again discuss the issue as debate on the finer detail of Dr Alex Allinson's private members bill continues on the fourth day of the clauses stage.

The issue of access zones for abortion services is set to dominate the sitting, with their location, range and the conduct of those inside them all up for debate.

There's a total of 12 new clauses to be inserted to the bill, 6 of which are subject to amendments.

Before this stage, there are only five questions for oral answer after Lawrie Hooper MHK withdrew one of his enquiries.

South Douglas member Kate Beecroft will ask the Chief Minister what action is being taken to avoid the Island being placed on the EU tax black list.

Jason Moorhouse MHK wants to know how government's consultation process has been updated, and Onchan member Rob Callister has a question on advice to pregnant women travelling off-Island.

You can listen to the sitting, which starts at 10am, via Manx Radio's AM 1368 frequency, online and via our smartphone apps.
