25 arrested on suspicion of drug driving

Follows amendment to Road Traffic Act

Twenty five people on the Isle of Man have been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of illegal drugs since the start of the New Year.

It follows an amendment to the Road Traffic Act which came into force on 17 January.

Police are using DrugWipes on a daily basis to screen motorists who they suspect to be under the influence of drugs in an effort to keep roads safe.

Officers say those using illegal drugs for recreational purposes may be unaware of the implications their drug use has on their driving under the new amendments.

They are warning motorists they face a mandatory ban if convicted.
