Treasury minister spars with fellow MHK over national insurance

Treasury Minister Alf Cannan has maintained that with the current taxation structure in place on the Isle of Man, people are better off here than in the UK.

He made the comments in Tynwald, as part of an ongoing sparring match with Chris Robertshaw MHK about National Insurance.

Mr Robertshaw, and several other members, argue those on the lowest incomes are hit the hardest by the system in its current form.

Mr Cannan was adamant, though, that they're better off than those on equivalent salaries across the water:
