It's an increase on the past two years
New government figures show there are 165 empty public sector properties on the Isle of Man.
That's up on the past two years which is being blamed on the impact major capital projects have where decants of properties are required for demolition and redevelopment.
Comparing Q4 from 2021/22 to the most recent quarter, there was an increase of 48 empty social houses.
The Department of Infrastructure says there are currently two such major redevelopment projects having a direct impact on total numbers of void properties at School Hill in Castletown and Cooil Ny Marrey in Ramsey.
It adds, there had been a significant increase attributed to the Westlands redevelopment in Peel, but that has since concluded and void levels in the west have returned to 'normal levels'.
