Warning over new wave of bank scammers

 

Police have issued a warning about a new wave of scammers targeting people who bank in the Isle of Man. 

The criminals claim there are problems with the victim's bank account and attempt to persuade them to give away personal banking details such as passwords.

If successful they then hack in to the individual's account and steal money.

Police say any suspicious calls should be reported to your bank immediately even if no money has been lost, as measures may then be applied to accounts to prevent future losses.

Victims are also encouraged to contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or at actionfraud.police.uk  

PC Claire Kemp from the Island's Financial Crime Unit says the latest fraudsters are using another technique to convince victims the call is genuine:
