Village firm sets pupils creative Christmas challenge

A Port Erin company is inviting Island youngsters to get creative and design an original Christmas card - with the chance of seeing it go on sale to the public.

Village gift and greeting card store Mantons Cards has opened its 2013 festive art competition to all primary school children. When the challenge was last set in 2011, it attracted more than 1000 entries!

One thousand cards will be professionally produced from the winning design chosen by card publisher Noel Tatt, and sold at Mantons with the full sale prize being donated to Crossroads care.

The winner's prize will be a framed copy of their design and Mantons' vouchers with prizes also awarded to two runners-up.

Mantons owner Chris Beards says he was prompted to organise the Christmas competition for a second time by teachers and children.

He said the store is delighted to offer aspiring young artists the chance to be creative and raise money for an important Island charity.
