DED's package of advice to assist start-ups
The value of creative industries to the Island's economy and to community life, is gaining recognition.
An Arts Council delegation attended an international summit on developing niche creative sectors in Edinburgh in August.
In September, the Make Market creative industries 'takeover' at Douglas market hall highlighted the community 'buzz' a cluster of creatives can produce.
Practical and financial assistance is offered by the Department of Economic Development's Small Business Start-up Scheme.
The package includes a five-day basic business course, advice from a business mentor, help with building a business plan, and in some cases, grants to purchase equipment.
