Outdoor activity centre plan for former quarry

Nature friendly ideas called upon for 13 hectare spot

Ideas are being called upon from businesses and individuals who might be interested in creating something new at a former quarry site in South Barrule.

The area is 13 hectares - about the size of 18 football pitches - and sits close to the plantation that plays home to Ape Man and Lazer Mayhem.

Forty glamping pods and a visitor centre are also set to be developed at South Barrule plantation.

Minister for the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, Geoffrey Boot MHK, said: ‘At this stage we welcome all ideas that will enable for visitors to engage in physical activity whilst being immersed in nature.’

Any idea must be sensitive to the environment, and expressions of interest must be in by 21 December.
