Our man in Brussels

The Isle of Man has a new representative in Brussels, following the appointment by the government of its first director of European affairs.

Patrick Bourke formerly worked for the Ministry of Justice in London as the conduit for the Crown dependencies' relationship with Britain.

He will be the Manx eyes and ears in Brussels, lobbying decision makers on its behalf, promoting the Island and gathering information on issues affecting it.

Chief Minister Tony Brown says Mr Bourke is well positioned to lead the Isle of Man's Brussels office, given his knowledge of the Island, the United Kingdom and the European Union.
