Multi-million pound subsea fibre optic cable installed

Hoped to strengthen Island's connectivity with Ireland and the UK

It's hoped a new fibre optic cable running under the sea will strengthen the Isle of Man's connectivity to Ireland and the UK.

Built with the latest high speed technology, the multi-million pound project aims to enhance the Island's existing infrastructure, benefitting businesses and residents.

Irish-based Connectivity Services provider Aqua Comms has worked closely with government to install the new Celtix-Connect 2 cable as part of its wider strategy to develop the North Atlantic Loop.

Installation of the 47 mile fibre optic cable is now finished, connected at two landing points here in Port Erin and Port Grenaugh.
