A third mobile phone company could be eyeing the Isle of Man for a new network.
The Communications Commission has released details of a consultation it held into allocating parts of the radio spectrum on the Island.
It asked for views on the proposals, which will go before the UK regulator OFCOM.
As well as Manx Telecom and Sure Mobile, a firm called Clear Mobitel Ltd also submitted its views.
In its response to the commission, Clear Mobitel argued the extra radio frequencies could be used by a third mobile operator.
That, however, didn't tally with Cable and Wireless, the firm behind Sure, which argued introducing another mobile company wouldn't be economically viable.
Manx Telecom said it was possible but unlikely the Island could support another mobile network, citing what it termed the failure of Cloud 9.
But Clear Mobitel, which is based in London and runs services in the Channel Islands and UK, said its experience in Jersey and Guernsey showed extra competition had spurred innovation.
