Minister insists there's been 'good uptake' in LoveIOM card

But concerns raised over how much it will help hospitality

The Enterprise Minister insists there's been 'good uptake' so far in the LoveIOM gift card launched this winter.

The £500,000 initiative was announced in November 2021 aimed at boosting spend in the local economy.

Around 1,300 cards have been purchased and have been available to use since Tuesday (4 January).

Chair of the Licensed Victuallers Association, Geoff Joughin, believes it isn't enough to help pubs and restaurants through winter.

But Dr Alex Allinson maintains the card will help 'put money in people's pockets' to support Manx hospitality:
