Microgaming donate £16K to Manx Breast Cancer Support Group

Patients won't now have to leave Island to be scanned

A £16,000 donation by Microgaming Health and Care Trust has allowed the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group to purchase a Breast Coil.

The equipment is used in Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI scans and means patients don't now have to leave the Island to be scanned.

The local charity raised over £1.5 million to build a dedicated breast care unit and is continuing to fund raise to buy all the equipment needed.

Consultant Radiologist at Nobles Hospital, Dr Rebecca Miller, says the coil will transform the service provided on the Island, particularly with the management and experience of younger women with a strong family history risk for breast cancer.

She adds that subtle cancers can now be detected and treated much earlier.
