Manx show economic optimism in survey

The Isle of Man appears less despondant about the future than the Channel Islands, according to new research.

A survey carried out by Guernsey-based Island Analysis shows a more positive response from the Manx than their counterparts in Jersey and Guernsey when it comes to the economy's direction over the next six month.

Only a quarter of Isle of Man residents believe things are going to get worse, compared to almost two-thirds of people in Jersey and 40 per in Guernsey.

The survey also found people living on all three islands said they would be reducing their household spending to cope with the difficult economic times.
