Manx company's windfarm refused

Decision over whether to continue trading

A Manx-based company says it’ll have to consider whether it can continue to trade after a wind turbine development in Wales was scuppered by the UK government.

Renewable Energy Holdings had applied to build 27 turbines in Powys – but the UK’s energy secretary Amber Rudd refused development consent.

The project would have provided up to almost 90 megawatts of electricity, but there were concerns over a nearby red kite population in a special protection area.

Renewable Energy Holdings, registered in Hope Street in Douglas, says it will now hold discussions with its principal creditor to see if it can continue trading.

The company says its shares, which are traded on the Alternative Investment Market, will be suspended pending the outcome of the talks.
