Just under £130,000 raised for Hospice

Event supported by SMP and Microgaming welcomed singer Alfie Boe

A huge amount of money was raised for a local charity at Hospice’s Secret Garden Party recently.

The event was the brainchild of local businessman and chairman of SMP Partners, Steve McGowan.

He wanted to raise funds for the children’s hospice Rebecca House as it marks ten years of specialist paediatric care for children facing a life-limiting or life-threatening illness on the Island.

The event was exclusively sponsored by Microgaming with entertainment by Alfie Boe, who's a patron of Hospice.

Five hundred guests enjoyed an evening in the grounds of Billown Mansion, Malew, courtesy of owner John Whittaker, who also attended.

Just under £130,000 was raised for Rebecca House which has left the team at Hospice feeling quite speechless in appreciation of everyone involved in making this event so very special.

Chairman of Hospice, Sir Miles Walker CBE said, "This event will live on for a long time in the memory of everyone who was there on such a special occasion.

"Most importantly the difference this amount of money will make to our patients is phenomenal."

Hospice Isle of Man says 85p of every pound raised is spent directly on patient care.
