Jobless 'disappointment' for minister

Unemployment in the Isle of Man has risen again, and Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says he can see the upward trend continuing for a while.

Government figures, released today (Friday), show the total stood at 971 at the end of November.

That was 61 higher than the total for October, and represented an unemployment rate of 2.3 per cent.

Mr Teare is disappointed, but says 'external conditions’ are making it a difficult time for the Manx economy.

He adds that, with seasonal factors now at play, he expects further increases during the winter months.
