Island unaffected by UK job losses

It's business as usual at the Isle of Man branch of Bradford and Bingley, despite today's job losses at the company's mortgage processing centre at Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

About 400 employees are being made redundant there, as the firm struggles with the credit crunch.

The company posted losses of more than £26 million in the first half of the year, but Manx Radio has been told operations in the Isle of Man will not be affected.

Bradford and Bingley spokesman Tony McGarahan says it's all down to the dire state of the UK's housing market:
