No 'free for all' on regional links - TravelWatch
Restoring air links between the Island and Heathrow airport could see a raft of European airlines bidding to operate the service.
That view from aviation spokesman at Island passenger group TravelWatch, Terry Liddiard.
A recent report recommending a fifth runway for Heathrow has called for an expansion of regional services, if it's built.
Mr Liddiard says extra regional routes would operate under a Public Service Obligation system - there would be no free-for-all, as a new licensing body would decide on the carrier.
That could be an airline already serving the Island like easyJet - or a smaller European operation not currently known here.
Mr Liddiard says the chosen carrier would be expected to meet all sorts of standards:
